Developed to Solve Problems
The MOBO Story
MOBO was founded by Jay Dicharry, who spends the majority of his time researching and applying approaches to improve injury resilience in athletes, and working towards incremental gains in elite athletic performance. Through this work, Jay discovered a problematic trend: athletes don’t train their feet like they train the rest of the body. This oversight leaves seconds on the clock and black holes in an athlete’s preparation.
Over the years, Jay developed innovative techniques to rebuild the foot, all requiring extensive one-on-one training. However, there were no tools on the market to progress from basic training towards sport specificity. When it comes to feet, the details matter. He dreamed of creating a tool that cued the right form and made it easy for people to maximize their training time.
Never one to settle, Jay made it happen. He sketched designs, bought a CNC machine to build prototypes, earned three patents, sourced production, and is proud to deliver MOBO to the world.
Jay is a physical therapist, teacher, biomechanics researcher, + author in Bend, Oregon, USA. Jay built his international reputation as an expert in biomechanical analysis as Director of the SPEED Clinic at the University of Virginia, and as Director of an independent lab in Oregon. Jay blurs the lines between clinical practice, coaching, and engineering to solve injury problems and optimize performance. He can be found working with some of the best athletes across the globe. Jay literally wrote the book on running gait assessments: he is author of “Running Rewired” and "Anatomy for Runners", writes columns for numerous magazines, and has published over thirty-five professional journal articles and book chapters.
